Momma’s Skirt = Daughter’s Pinafore

By Amber January 3, 2012

You know where this is going, right?

So I had a skirt that I wasn’t wearing anymore. Instead of getting rid of it, I decided to alter it.

I really do like the embroidery on this skirt, even if it is machine embroidery! 😉 These are the lines that I cut. So I basically cut the skirt in half [the other half is reserved for Sarie Beth, our younger daughter] and then cut just above the trim. The middle section is taken out because 1.) the skirt needs to be shorter anyway for a small girl and 2.) that is all extra fabric that you can do whatcha’ want to with.

I made shoulder straps out of mine. The tie that you see in the back was already a tie on my skirt because it tied to the side in it’s previous life. I was able to reuse that in a simple way for Gianna’s bow for the pinafore.

Then I stitched up the embroidery section back along to the bottom to finish it off. So easy!

Gianna simply loves it – and loves to twirl in it. She also helps bake in the kitchen and likes to don this pinafore first! She’s a girlie girl! …Except when she’s rough housin’ with her brothers and busting her lip!
